Introduction

The National Information Technology Competition for Tertiary Institutions is Nigeria Computer Society (NCS)’s annual tertiary institutions Information Technology (IT) competition which aims at promoting and identifying IT skills, interests, and passion amongst undergraduate students.

Eligibility

The Competition is open to undergraduate students in all Tertiary Institutions (Private and Public) in Nigeria Universities, Polytechnics/Colleges of Technology and Colleges of Education that are studying Computer Science and its related courses.

The entry application must be filled and submitted online via Nigeria Computer Society website www.ncs.org.ng

Competition Coverage

Computer Science courses and emerging trends in technology as approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) NUC), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), National Board for Colleges of Education (NBCE) and the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN).

Rules
  1. Interested applicants must currently be enrolled in any recognized tertiary institution in Nigeria.
  2. Each applicant is to pay a non-fundable registration fee of three thousand naira (₦3,000.00)
  3. Entry applicants must fill in the competition application form via www.ncs.org.ng.
  4. Entry applicants are to submit the following online: their evidence of registration fees payment, dully signed reference letter (using the Institution’s letter head paper) by Head of Department and electronic copy of their passport with the application form.
  5. Application portal opens 15th January, 2024 and closes, 30th June, 2024.
  6. 1st stage competition (Zonal Level) shall be held on July 10th, 2024.
  7. The 2nd stage competition (National Level) shall be held on July 16th, 2024.

  9. Peradventures there is a tie in the scores; another competition will be fixed to determine the winners.
  10. Any costs or expenses incurred by entrants for participating in the competition are at the applicant’s account. The organizers will only provide the prize for awardees.

General Modalities:
  1. The 1st Stage Competition shall be CBT/virtual (as much as possible all the competitions at this level will be online except in a situation where this may not be visible).
  2. The 2nd Stage competition will be held virtually (online).
  3. During the 1st stage competition, all applicants will compete in the zone their state belongs to.
  4. Results of 1st stage competition must be released within 48 hours and officially submitted to Chairman EDMC via the committee’s secretary.
  5. Result of 2nd stage competition must be released the same day of the competition.
  6. Results of 1st stage competition must be signed by NCS Zonal Coordinator and IT Competition Sub-committee Chairman.
  7. Results of 1st stage not signed as stated in 6 above will not be accepted by EDMC.
  8. Four candidates are to emerge at 1st Stage Competitions (i.e. 1st – 4th positions from each zone shall qualify for 2nd Stage Competition).

  10. The four candidates that qualify from each state of the zone will be given a certificate of recognition by the Zonal Coordinator.
