Nasarawa Becomes Host State for NCS’s First-Ever AI Summit

The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), the country’s largest and most prestigious professional body in the technology industry, has named Nasarawa State as the host state for its first-ever Artificial Intelligence Summit.

The Nigerian Computer Society (NCS) is the umbrella organization for all Nigerian Information Technology Practitioners, Interest Groups, and Stakeholders.

With over 20,000 highly skilled and devoted members in both the private and governmental sectors, NCS continues to be at the forefront of Nigeria’s IT growth.

While announcing the summit in a press conference, Professor Adesina Sodiya, President of NCS, said the AI Summit, which will take place from March 23 to 25, 2022 at Aliyu Akwe-Doma Banquet Hall in Lafia, Nassarawa State capital, falls under one of NCS’ major objectives, which is to “promote IT adoption and rapid national development using emerging technologies.”

He stated that NCS is ever devoted to pursuing this mission energetically for the welfare of our nation.

According to Prof. Sodiya, Artificial intelligence, as defined by the development of digital systems and technologies that replicate human characteristics and capacities in problem-solving and decision-making, has emerged as a key technology today.

Artificial intelligence, he claims, is currently presenting enormous prospects, resulting in advancements in all areas of life. Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the global economy in every way.

“It is expected that AI will profoundly reshape the social and economic landscape of our nation, and it will definitively spark innovations and foster creative solutions in fields such as agriculture, medicine, transportation, finance, education, and so on”.

“Individuals, corporate organisations and governments must embrace AI opportunities for competitive advantage and rapid national development”.

According to the NCS President, AI has a new set of tools that are now revolutionizing the entire world, and Nigeria must devote the necessary attention to it in order to achieve effective digital economy transformation and efficient corporate operations.
