Beyond Digital Access: Building Sustainable, Safe and Value Driven Technology-Enhanced Learning Ecosystem in Nigeria

The potentials of e-learning have been speedily harnessed by many schools. All over the world, there have been a paradigm shift in teaching and learning using technology. Consequently, there must be reasonable progress and notable adoption of e-learning technologies at our various schools. Continuous and sustainable implementation of e-learning are much needed for enhancing quality of education in Nigerian schools. Coordinated and robust strategies must be developed for impactful and strategic adoption of technology-based learning in Nigerian schools.

Computing education is dynamic and ever evolving. The field of computing has developed into many specializations with relevant roles in national development. Nigeria must continue to promote high quality education and efficient skill acquisition in various fields of computing. The digital literacy level has significantly improved in Nigeria because computing education is now taught at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels of our institutions. This is indeed a good development that must be improved upon. Computing education has been expanded in the tertiary institutions in Nigeria with the approval for the establishment for the creation of faculty of computing by National University Commission.

Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), the umbrella body for all IT practitioners and interest groups, has a core mandate of promoting and developing computing education in Nigeria. NCS has renewed commitment to this goal by introducing many strategies and programmes for improving standard of education in Nigeria.

The e-learning / Information Technology Education was conceived to accelerate the adoption of technology-based learning in our various schools and institutions. The workshop will also review and assess computing education in Nigeria for effective and qualitative impact in the nation. Participants will be exposed to the innovative ways of enhancing e-learning and computing education in Nigeria.

The Society will continue to support and promote advancement in Computing and Information Technology education for sustainable development of the nation.
