Membership is open to everyone with professional interest in Computing and Information Technology

Membership Categories & Requirements
Professional Fellowship

The Grade of Fellow is the highest of the profession and it is granted to any interested Member who can prove his/her professional activities, justify his/her acceptance as an authority in his/her particular field of computing; has made significant contribution to the growth of the Society; and in addition fulfilled any of  requirements A or B bellow:

Requirements A:

  1. First degree (HND or B.Sc.) in Computing or Computer Professional Examination (CPE Stage II).
  2. Candidate must be a full member grade with not less than ten years on the grade and relevant professional work experience, at least five years of which must have been in position of managerial responsibility.
  3. Candidate is a registered IT Professional whose name is listed in the Register of Members maintained by the Computer Professionals (Registration Council) of Nigeria (CPN) for at least five years, including attending at least two of the last three IT Assemblies that can be verified.
  4. Candidate has been a member of the Society for at least ten years and has actively participated in the Society’s activities in the last five years, including attending at least two of the last three National/International Conferences/activities of the Society that can be verified.
  5. Must pay a special admission fee to be determined by the Council.

Requirements B:

In the instance of a candidate failing to meet the requirements in Route A, the following conditions will suffice subject to fulfilling compulsory criteria and being within a maximum number of ten (10) such admissible candidates per annum:

  1. First degree (HND or B.Sc.) in Computing or Computer Professional Examination (CPE Stage II).
  2. Practicing IT for a minimum of twenty (20) verifiable years.
  3. Must have registered with NCS and CPN for a minimum period of two (2) years.
  4. Must pay a special admission fee to be determined by the Council.

Member

Prospective applicant to be admitted as Member must satisfy at least one of the following criteria:

    1. B.Sc./HND in Computer Science/Information Technology or related courses (from approved institutions) with at least five years of proven post graduation professional experience in Computing/IT
    2. M.Sc./M.Tech in Computer Science/Information Technology or related courses with at least three years of proven post graduation experience in Computing/Information Technology
    3. B.SC./HND in non related courses in addition to Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Computer Science/Information Technology with not less than three years post PGD professional experience
    4. Must have passed the Computer Professionals Examination (CPE) III

Associate Member

Prospective applicants to be admitted at this level must possess at least one of the following requirements:

  1. B.Sc./HND in Computer Science/Information Technology or related courses but less than five years of proven post graduation professional experience
  2. MSc in Computer Science/Information Technology or related courses with not less than two years of proven post graduation professional experience
  3. B.Sc/HND in non related courses in addition to Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Computer Science/Information Technology with not less than two years of proven post PGD professional experience
  4. Must have passed the Computer professional Examination (CPE) II

Graduate Member

Prospective applicants to be admitted at this level must possess the following requirements:

  1. B.Sc/HND in Computer Science/Information Technology or related courses with less than three years of proven post graduation professional experience

Technologist

Prospective applicant must have at least one of the following qualifications:

  1. National Diploma for recognized institution
  2. Computer Professional Examination (CPE) I
  3. Certification Examinations e.g. Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle etc

Student Member

Undergraduate Students currently undergoing a course of study in computer science/ Computer Engineering/Information Technology or related course in a University or Polytechnic or other Institutions of Higher learning recognized by the Society.

Affiliate Member

Granted to applicants who are not Computing graduates but has attended computing training for at least one year or has worked for at least 2 years in a Computer environment

Honourary Fellow

Conferred on individuals who are not computing professionals but have contributed in one way or the other to the growth of Information Technology in the Country.

Corporate Member

  1. Granted to Corporate Organisation/Company with interest in Computingand must be registered by Corporate Affairs Commission.
  2. At least two (2) members of the organisation must be registered with NCS
