Research and Development, UNN Hosts NCS to Organise Workshop

As part of corporate responsibilities of Nigeria Computer Society, and in pursuance of its vision and mission of Research and manpower development, Nigeria Computer Society held its fourth Research and Development Workshop at the ICT/Innovation centre University of Nigeria Nsukka. The workshop which stated on Tuesday 11th October 2016 came to an end on Thursday 13th October 2016. The workshop attracted participants from all sectors of the economy –  Developers, Designers, IT Managers & Senior Managers/Administrators, IT Professionals, IT Consultants/Researchers, IT Industry players, Education Faculty and Staff, Departmental & Units Heads, Government/Public and Private Sectors, Postgraduate students in Computer Science/IT and Business Development Executives/Managers.

Added to the glamour and success of the Workshop is the presence of good facilitators from different disciplines. They resourcefully impacted their skill and knowledge to the participants. The state of the arts facilities at the UNN ICT/Innovation centre added a great value to the workshop. Thanks to Professor Sola Aderounmu, President of Nigeria Computer Society who was also the lead facilitator at the workshop, for his immense contribution to the success of the program.

In his remark at the event, the President of Nigeria computer Society Prof. Sola Aderounmu reiterated the corporate responsibility of NCS by providing the wherewithal for capacity building. He advised the participants to be serious and hardworking. He enjoined those of them who are not members of NCS to apply for membership so as to enjoy the largesse of being a member.

NCS President, Prof. Sola Aderounmu led NCS delegate on a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor University of Nigeria Nsukka, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba. The visit was to appreciate the kind gesture of the Vice Chancellor and the entire University Community for their good hospitality. In the attendance were Prof. James Ogbonna   DVC (Admin) who was acting for the Vice Chancellor, , Prof. Fidelis Ugwuowo, Dean of faculty of Physical Sciences, Prof. Bakpo, HOD Computer Science , Dr. (Mrs) M.E. Odukwe, Deputy registrar V.C’s Office, Mr Rogba Adeoye, Chairman Education Committee, Dr Deborah L. Nkem and Mr. Iyiola Ayoola  Executive Secretary NCS.

In his speech, Prof. Aderounmu thanked the Vice Chancellor for his support for the success of the Workshop and praised him for their giant stride in IT deployment in the Institution. NCS is and will always be available for future collaboration in IT development.

Responding, the Vice Chancellor through the acting V.C, Prof. Ogbonna thanked NCS President Professor Aderounmu and his Council for choosing UNN as venue for this year’s Research and Development program. He equally applauded the V.C’s IT innovative ideas and promised that the Institution will always be ready to cooperate with NCS in terms of IT Research and Development and IT deployment.
