IT Personality of the Year 2016: Mr Akpodigha Filatei FNCS

Mr Akpodigha Filatei FNCS, CEO Guarantee Turnkey Systems Ltd, was named as the NCS Information Technology (IT) Personality of the Year 2016 at the just concludedNational Information Technology Merit Awards organised by the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the MUSON Centre. Mr Akpodigha Filatei was nominated alongside Mr. Andy Nwani of Dataflex Nigeria Limited and Mr. Tosin Ilesanmi of RLG Limited for the prestigious Award. He emerged the winner of the Award after receiving the highest number of votes in an online contest on NCS Membership Portal.

Scholarship Fund 2016: Jim Ovia Redeems Pledge

Mr Jim Ovia FNCS, Chairman of Zenith Bank Plc

The Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) acknowledged the redemption of the N15.75 million Scholarship pledge made by the Chairman of Zenith Bank Plc, and Cyberspace Ltd, Mr Jim Ovia FNCS.

The pledge was made on November 26, 2015 during the annual National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA) organized by NCS to celebrate, recognise and award medals to every worthy professional in the Information Technology industry.

Mr. Jim Ovia also promised automatic employment in Zenith Bank Plc or Cyberspace Ltd to any of the beneficiaries of the scholarship that graduated with second class upper division in ICT annually.

The NCS Scholarship Scheme is one of the corporate responsibilities geared towards mentoring and monitoring Nigeria youths for ICT sustainability.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Engr. Babachir Lawal, was among the 19 members of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), conferred with the Prestigious Professional Fellowship Award, at this year’s National Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA), organised annually by the NCS.

The Professional Fellowship Award is the highest recognition of professional excellence in Information Technology (IT) practice in Nigeria.
